DOGS ARE NEVER IN THE DOGHOUSE AT DOG-FRIENDLY CARMEL VALLEY LODGE

Carmel Valley, CA -- January 4, 1999 -- At Carmel Valley Lodge, a quiet country retreat located in the heart of Carmel Valley, dogs are always welcome. Upon arrival they are treated to tasty Doggie Love Snacks. Dogs that prefer the great outdoors will find their own doggie hitching post right outside the room, and for those that would rather stay inside, they can curl up in front of the fire in one of the Lodge's spacious fireplace cottages or suites. "We joke with our guests that 'children and dogs are welcome as long as the kids are on a leash and the dogs are at least 12 years old'," said owner Peter Coakley. "But in all seriousness, we know that we've had trouble on our vacations finding hotels that accept pets. We realized there's a real opportunity to cater to pet owners who prefer to bring their dogs with them on holidays." For an extra $10.00 per night, guests can have one dog stay with them in their room. Leashed dogs are allowed to roam the Lodge's lush 3-acre landscape, complete with flower and water gardens. Furthermore, leashed dogs are welcome at the large community park located across the street. "About the only thing a dog can't do is swim in our 60-foot heated swimming pool and whirlpool spa," said Coakley.
