Carmel Valley, CA -- August 14, 1998-- Carmel Valley Lodge, an intimate 31-room country retreat, offers guests a chance to relive fond childhood memories of roasting marshmallows by the campfire. Beginning September 8, 1998, the Lodge provides guests with all the makings to fire-roast their own S'Mores. Rich milk chocolate, fresh marshmallows, crisp graham crackers and even roasting sticks are provided complimentary to guests each night. "We wanted to offer something different than just your ordinary bowl of fruit at the front desk," said Michael Cawdrey, General Manager of the Carmel Valley Lodge. "S'mores seemed to be the natural choice. Not only are we situated in a country, woodsy setting, but we also feature many rooms, suites and cottages with fireplaces, and outdoor hibachis, and we have a stone fireplace in the lobby area. Guests have a choice of accommodations allowing them to either roast marshmallows in the privacy of their own room, or to mingle with other guests as they gather around the fireplace every evening in the lobby." For that discriminating adult in all of us, Carmel Valley Lodge also offers a special wine tasting package called the Walking Wine Tour, for just $260 per couple through October 31, 1998; $200 per couple November 1, 1998 through May 31, 1999. The Walking Wine Tour includes overnight accommodations in a one-bedroom Lodge suite and a self-guided walking tour of the nearby wine tasting rooms of Durney, Bernardus, Talbott, Joullian and Georis wineries in Carmel Valley Village, a short five minute walk from the Lodge. At Georis winery, guests will be treated to a domestic and imported fruit platter and a personalized half bottle of Georis's 1995 Merlot. And, for the romantics of all ages, Carmel Valley Lodge offers the Country Romance package at just $580 per couple through October 31, 1998; $450 per couple November 1, 1998 through May 31, 1999. This package includes two nights accommodations in a Lodge suite equipped with a fireplace, kitchen and outdoor hibachi, the Lodge's signature self-guided Walking Wine Tour, a bottle of champagne, classic romantic movies, and of course, freshly popped popcorn. One of the two nights in the Country Romance package includes dinner for two at Carmel Valley's romantic new Summerhouse restaurant. The Carmel Valley Lodge is located 12 minutes inland from coastal Carmel and the Monterey Peninsula in sunny Carmel Valley - central California's "other wine country" - and offers a year-round country retreat with private cottages, suites and guests rooms, a heated pool and whirlpool spa, and a 1,200-square-foot conference center. Owned by Peter Coakley for over 25 years, the Carmel Valley Lodge is managed by The Hotel Guys LLC, a Seattle-based hospitality management company. Reservations and information on the Walking Wine Tour and the Country Romance packages can be made by calling the Carmel Valley Lodge at 800-641-4646, or 831-659-2261. e-mail: info@valleylodge.com or visit their web page at: www.valleylodge.com. |
